To view their encrypted messages, subscribers can simply double-click the "P7M" file/ "EncryptedMail" file and enter their Secure ID password to view the message in its original format, including any images or attachments.

What is a "P7M" file?

A P7M file is an encrypted and signed email message (sometimes referred to as s/mime) stored in a file. This file can only be opened by an application that knows how to decrypt and read it, such as . It cannot be read without access to your Secure ID, which is why you must enter your password.

What is a "EncryptedMail" file?

The contents of an EncryptedMail file are the same as a P7M file. This file extension is used instead of P7M to avoid conflict with native handling of S/MIME messages by your email client.

If you chose to view your EMX messages in , you will receive your messages through your email client (e.g., Outlook) as attachments with the EncryptedMail file extension. When replying to an EncryptedMail message within , your message is saved using the EncryptedMail file format and then sent to the recipient(s).
